I would love if every affiliate would update me on their most current email address and phone number. I have so many old emails and it’s very hard to get through to some affiliates, who have moved on to other email addresses. I frequently have very important emails that need to get through but many times the email address I send it to doesn’t exist anymore. :(

    Best Regards,

    Mark

im not saying this about focal click or aything like that – but unless its super urgent, i dont want to be called up, i have made mistakes by putting my real phone number down in the past……. put it this way…. Never Again

I dont get many calls, but whe they come, they are at anytime of the day or night and normally just a call to ask me to promote them more or something like that – never has a call been of an important nature.

Thats one reason Mark (or any other affiliate program) i think you may have trouble with ppl putting wrong phone numbers down on purpose (or have had to change their phone number because of this) as opposed to people just having out of date info

I completely understand what you are saying darko123.

I will change that to a valid email address then. That’s all I’m asking for. An updated email address. :)

    Thanks,
    Mark

I absolutely understand why some people wouldn’t want to put a phone number in, however there have been times especially recently where I have tried the email and tried the phone number on the account for urgent payment stuff and I haven’t been able to get a hold of the affiliate.. For that reason we haven’t been able to send payment and the affiliate contacts me 6-12 months later from a different email saying ‘where the F*** is my money. you scammers. you’re ripping me off blah blah blah’

Yes I have received an email like this recently.

I know there are some aff programs out there that will call you for random stuff, but there are programs like ours too that wont call randomly and will only call if we cant reach you by email for URGENT stuff (such as payments)…

So, understandable if you don’t want to enter your phone number but at least add an email that our emails will get through to (ie add us to a safelist or something). :wavey:

    Please :)

Having a forum with many casino sponsors I can say that not one upstanding program has called me at a time that was not set up already, I have gotten calls at 4 and 5 am BUT that is because I have said to a few call me anytime if it is urgent, when in this biz you have to realize that not everyone is on the same time zone as you.

You will get the shady places calling you but I myself don’t promote them(unless they were good gone bad..lol) so therefore they will not have my #.

I like this thread and it is only fair that us affiliates get the critiqued treatment that we give all our affiliate managers :)

I will be sure to make sure my info is all updated :):wavey:

An updated email address is good enough in most circumstances. I personally will only call if I have to or have made prior arrangements – because I understand affiliates out there are very busy people – most anyway

I agree, I only call once I have the go ahead from the affiliate in question.

Personally I would appreciate being contacted about an issue before I read about it on a forum…

If I don’t give the service you deserve flame me or Referback if you will but with multiple email addresses, toll free numbers on Referback.com, my office and mobile number in my signature (both in my emails and my forum posts) it would be great to get dropped a line which says “I have …. problem”.

A big thanks to Dom and Engineer and many others who use pm’s and MSN as a first point of resolution – you guys and gals rock! :D

I personally don’t like speaking on the phone – its good, IMO, to have everything is writing :)

Up to date email addresses are the most important thing for me too

    Hey guys;

One more thing just sprung to mind…

I’d really like affiliates to keep their payment details up to date. In certain territories some payment methods have become unavailable and everyone knows about them.

But to try and get some affiliates to update their banking details has been *mission impossible* for the last few months.

We’d just like to give you your money guys – that’s one occasion I’m sure we all would not have minded having updated phone numbers :wink-wink

I am not an affiliate manager but I would like to say that often affililiates will tar programs or managers they don’t know with the “evil” or “spammer” brush.

What I mean is that because they have been screwed over a few times in a variety of ways I often see some affiliates not willing or not interested in speaking to new managers or new programs. That said I am not saying that you should dive in and promote a completely untested company, but you shouldn’t immediately go on the defensive and close your self off because they posted an introduction in a forum or approached you at a conference.

I hope that makes sense :sarcasm:

I totally understand this point and I also think its true to a degree of when I first came here. It’s always hard for a new “face” to fit into an already existing and friendly community, especially for a UK bookmaker who was little known in the US.

By the time we gained the trust the US was about to bottom out, hey ho :bullshit: As it happened with us it didnt hurt us as bad as others as a result.

However, i feel with all forums as a nooob it can be very difficult to get accepted/listened too. With time comes trust and acceptance and its pretty much down to guys and girls like me (I’m a guy!) to persevere and earn that trust, it is free but it just costs time.

Am I making any sense or just rambling?

I also don’t like to be called. I hange up all calls from casino affiliates. Just email is enough to communicate with each other. If I don’t reply to your email that means I don’t have interese in your offer.

My main form of contact for affiliates is MSN and email. Like most have said if they want a call the affiliates will let me know then by all means I will call them.

However in the meantime IM and email it is.

This is where the conferences also come into their own, its great to meet those guys that you would not meet otherwise.

Phone calls are a nuisance unless previously arranged.

A phonecall will disrupt everything, you can’t multi-task while talking on the phone.

I find it easiest to just PM affiliate managers when mails get lost, which does happen.

One on one beats a thread in the forum anytime, managers can’t publish personal info in the forum anyway, so what’s the point? The forums are good though for general questions and for resolution of problems that failed to be resolved after talking privately.

One thing I do not like to see from either affiliates or managers is open publishing of private mails. It’s a “Private Message” and not a “Public Message”. I would get really pissed if anyone published my private mail.

I always tell affiliates to stay in touch with managers. The managers want your sites to do well too, you make money, the casino makes money, the manager makes money. It’s all interrelated, and it makes good sense to work together to make it all happen.

Personally I prefer email/MSN over phone all the time. It enables me to easily keep a record of what was discussed etc. I’ve dealt with people who are the opposite though, and won’t discuss anything unless in a phone call is made first.
