A few years ago I picked up some Froot Loops at the little corner store at the end of the street . My husband and 3 boys were at the table before I left for work the next morning getting ready for their breakfast .
When I got home that night Tom said ‘Don’t ever buy cereal at that store again . The expiration date expired 5 months ago”
I told him ‘ Okay where is it so I can return it ‘
He said ‘ ‘Oh you don’t have to because we ate it anyway “.
    Men and Cereal .
    P.S.
They all survived and we didn’t have to make a trip to the emergency room.

Does anyone remember the following Cereals from their Childhood

    1. Quisp – Little Flying Saucers quite tasty…
    2. Quake – A knock off of Capn Crunch. Quisp and Quake had a loser leave town battle and Quisp won so they pulled Quake off store shelves!
    3. Count Chocula – Had Monster Friends Franken Berry and Boo Berry. Tasty but loaded with enough sugar to induce seizures.

Does anyone remember the cut out records on the boxes of Honey Combs? I collected Jackson Five songs like Rockin Robin and ABC!

    Ahhhhh Cereal

When i was a kid we couldn’t afford cereal, ya i know, sounds like an Eddie Murphy line, damn we was so poor we had to fart in the bathtub if we wanted a jacuzzi, anyway, mama used to rip off a few chunks of bread, some sugar, and throw it in a bowl of milk, it was actually pretty damn tasty

I like that Froot Loops horror story, it’s funny, i’d have to be completely unconscious to hit the emergency room, and somebody would have to take me cuz i wouldn’t take myself, i’m just that kinda guy

Oddly enough, just the other day i was playing one of my screwy games with my gang, like a scene from the Road Warrior this game involved basically getting drunk and hitting eachother over the head with a piece of wood the size of a bat, and wouldn’t u know it, i get busted up over the head, there’s a hole in my head big enough to stick my thumb through and blood is gushing everywhere, it was hilarious, people are walking by us on the street scared to death, i can’t even see my face anymore it’s covered with blood, and i turned out fine, so far anyway, i still feel some numbness in parts of my head and parts of my face are purple, my nose might be broken, not sure, it was already broken, prolly coulda used a few stitches now that i think about it

What i’m trying to say is that i get your point of view with that expired cereal scare, i mean it’s funny to me, here we were the other day with blood pouring out of our heads and some yutz goes peddling by on his bicycle wearing a helmet and knee pads, damn, when i was a kid i used to try to wipe out on my bicycle on purpose and make myself bleed just to pick up cute girls, what the hell is happening to everyone

    LMAO !
Omg that’s horrible but hilarious at the same time .

I know when I was a kid that noone watched me at all .
When I was 4 my mom and I went to Maine and I had asked my dad to feed my turtle down cellar . I guess he went down to feed it and it scared the crap out of him becasue it was a huge snapper turtle . He called the fire dept. to come cart it off .
Now what’s a 4 year old doing playing a pond by herself and noone noticed me dragging it home ?
My mom laughs and says ‘Eh you were fine “

I do remember Count Chocula …we was always cooler that The Count from Sesame Street .

What is the name of the game that you were playing ?

Oh my god nick, your story is horrific! I have had my fare share of accidents over the years; badly electrocuted myself, chopped the top of my finger off etc and it has now made me a bit squeamish – especially the finger one. I used to be fine with blood, but now it completely freaks me out!

Silkprint I love your turtle story – it makes me sad that kids today can’t play as freely as we used to. We used to disappear for a whole day when I was little and return dirty and bruised and no one batted an eyelid.

    Yikes Julia !
I worked in a deli before also . They gave me every crappy hour they possibly could . I balked at taking the guts out of chickens . I did have a good time though .
How did they treat you after you got hurt?

Woah! Gutting chickens! No thank you! Lucky for me there was none of that required, simply slicing a bit of salami or cheese from time to time or the occasional finger.

I was actually assistant manager and responsible for training people on things like the meat slicer – oops! Lucky for me it was just one part of the business, and so I spent the rest of my days there managing the gift shop and café! They were very nice and gave me lots of time off – I still have the finger – it was glued back on!

So true! Damn we had so much freedom when we were young and the s*^t we used to get into, oh my. That was a great turtle story. Seemed like there were always big snappers around then.

I remember being out all day .
I don’t remember ever having lunch as a kid because I was never home . When we could hear the crickets it was time to go in .
