InactiveOK, I have an update, and it is looking even more concerning for affiliates.
Poker.com is going to go back to being just a poker portal – and will feed Carbon Poker. Nice way to steal all the players that were sent to poker.com.
Has anyone else got any news on this? Maybe one of the Poker.com reps would like to post here to clear this up if I have mis-understood something?

InactiveI got this today :
We are proud to announce the launch of The Merge Poker Network, and a brand new online poker brand CarbonPoker.com.
CarbonPoker.com is the first of many new brands for the Merge Network, and will allow us to promote the network with a free poker .net strategy through various media outlets and live poker tournaments, that were previously unavailable using the Poker.com brand.
The Poker.com software will continue to operate as per normal for all Poker.com players and for the immediate future affiliates may still send traffic to the Poker.com brand. Poker.com the website, is now a portal, and we will continue to advertise our brands on the Poker.com domain.
Although we currently have no immediate plans to close the Poker.com brand or move any players to a new brand, you can be assured that if the decision is ever made to do this, the players you have on your affiliate tracker at Poker.com will continue to be tracked to your affiliate account if ever moved to CarbonPoker.com or another brand.
In the future, we will also work with you to re-activate old or dead players to our new brands.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our affiliates for the work put into promoting the Poker.com software and would like to welcome you to the new Merge Network. As always we will be trying very hard to ensure our players and affiliates are treated the way they deserve to be treated and we will be doing our best to keep you informed of developments both within our organization and within our industry.
We have big plans for the Merge Network and will be launching our new affiliate program very soon, which will provide the best poker affiliate tools in the industry. We hope that are looking forward to the opportunities ahead as much as we are. If you should have any questions, please contact your affiliate manager.
Kind Regards
The Merge Network Affiliate Team

InactiveYes, but that might be too late…I just registered at Carbon Poker and already have a poker.com account and there was no problem there, just couldn’t use same screen name.
So, now if I never play at Poker.com again, am I still tracked to the person who signed me up at Poker.com???
If not, we will probably lose all our MGR players within the next 3-4 months as they will want to switch over to get the added bonuses.
And all the revenue goes to Carbon Poker/Poker.com and not the affiliate???
This is pretty sick if true.

InactiveCarbon poker? What kind of a name is that?

InactiveNo kidding…almost anything would have been better.
I would have liked PoopyFristPoker!

Inactiveits sick………….. and basically they are screwing us and they are doing it right now
Would be like fulltilt opening up fulltiltpoker2.com and telling everyone to sign up there so we can screw all our affiliates
better name would be ScrewPokerAffiliates.com hmmmm sounds catchy

InactiveAnd at Poker.com they are now promoting other poker rooms. They have ads up for Pacific Poker, Full Tilt Poker and more. They are basically an affiliate account site now.
I am a little surprised they haven’t responded with some kind of explanation of why AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE SCREWED!

Guestthat’s great. these places just keep coming up with new ways to screw us and depsite their attempt to put a twist on things by saying they’ll move our players over … they don’t mention that the new set up coaxes the players over to the new poker room with bonuses … which we affs WILL NOT get credit for.
poker.com. you guys suck! I’m going to take down your banners and links immediately.

InactiveInteresting ….
I’ve gone to http://www.poker.com right now and I don’t see any of that.
I see the normal Poker.com stuff with no advertsing for anyone else – and nothing about Carbon.com
I wonder if this is being geo-served and Carbon.com is for US players ?
(perhaps that also explains the name/ Carbon.com is a (carbon) copy )
=================
Of course all this is supposition … but for me (in NZ) poker.com looks normal
:rolleyes:February 3, 2007 at 12:20 am #725609Anonymous
Inactiveaha .. I take it back …
On this page http://www.poker.com/tournaments.htm?cookies=off I see some text links ….
Download Carbon Poker
Download Pacific Poker
Download Online Poker Plus
Download Full Tilt Poker… and those last three simply look like affiliate links certainly the FullTilt poker is an affiliate code – and the Pacific Poker and Online Poker Plus links are from ad.doubleclick.net …
:sarcasm:What is going on guys ?
If you want to be a portal and start competing then I want high profile links back to my site in exchange for the traffic …
:tounge2:February 3, 2007 at 12:23 am #725610Anonymous
Inactiveoh ho … and now I’ve lost my session cookie …
I’m seeing the full scam on the front page …Carbon poker being pushed ahead of EVERYTHING !!
888.con and online poker are there too and there is no download link for the Poker.com software …
Bloody sneaky …

InactiveGreat. So it is looking right? Thats an absolute joke! Is anyone from Poker.com/Carbon Poker going to say anything? All I have had from them is ‘Our affiliate department will contact you in the next 24-48 hours’.
Any chance of Dean or someone from Poker.com coming on here and responding? If not all tournaments and links from my site will be removed too – and I would suggest that everyone else does the same – it’s all wasted traffic that you are not going to see any $$$ for.
Shocking. Poker.com have always been a steadfast program that have been so popular with players, and now they are doing this. Will this industry never learn?!? No wonder it’s getting fucked when reputable companies do things like this.

I love that, thats a touch of class there. Absolute idiots. Who controls these decisions? Do they not actually think – ‘hmm, if we screw our affiliates then they won’t promote our new brand’. Or do they really just think that short term?
So annoyed its unbelievable:madat:
