InactiveTalking about hypocrisy in action. How can they bar Sports and Casino, but exempt poker? Because its a “Skill” game? What and Sports Hadicapping is not? Number Crunching take no “Skill”? Either this is going to be yet another example of hypocrisy or may spoil the whole Anti-Gambling bill.

Inactivei dont think you can call blackjack a game of still because if you play a million hands playing perfect blackjack strategy you WILL lose. so how can it be skill when no matter what you do in the end you will lose on average

Agree with john1124, if they somehow manage to get an exemption then they are sending someone some big time money under the table.

gamesdexMembermisterDH wrote:Poker is a game of luck when unexperienced players play… but in the end its a skill game…I would say this quote is typically the reverse for poker generally.
Fundamentally there is an element of skill (particularly when professionals play) but at the end of the day it is governed by luck. I could use my “skill” to get my money in every time I was ahead and lose all my money on every occasion; though statistically unlikely it is possible (thus luck).
Don’t get me wrong; i’m not advocating poker should be outlawed. I’m just suprised it would qualify for any exemption when certain types of sports betting can fundamentally be skill based also.

InactiveAre you kidding me….
Chance means 50-50 pretty much.
I win 11/12 sessions online without fail.
I must be VERY LUCKY!
Poker is a SKILL GAME influenced by luck short term.
Sports betting is a KNOWLEDGE GAME influenced by luck occasionally.

InactiveUntil the bill is introduced in one of the two houses of Congress, it’s a pipe dream. Most of the anti “internet gambling bills” have passed with nearly 90% support, i can’t see where they will suddenly get 50%+1 vote in both houses.
I’d like this to happen, make online poker legal and if they want regulate and tax it, but where is the support on the hill coming from?
Poker is a game of chance, if i sit and play poker for 25 years, i’ll be as good a Doyle Brunson and Phil Helmuth. RIGHT! :eh: Someone should explain how the top 100 pros, every year is filled with many of the same people, if it ain’t skill.

if you played a million hands of blackjack online – you will lose every time and Nothing can change that – you have zero chance of coming out on top

Poker certainly not like roulette – there is a significant skill aspect – but Texas Holdem is designed to also increase the luck factor as well. I’d put it at about 70% skill / 30% luck. And the million hands arguement is a bit weak. Many players are able to get into a winning situation during a session and take a profit.
Additionally – haven’t you heard of the blackjack tournaments?
No house involved simply be the best player at your table to move on.
Keep up with the games …
:colgate:It’s not as black n white as you’d like to present it.
