InactiveWow, I didn’t know you could get porn on Cell Phones ?????
Nothing on fax-on-demand porn though. I had predicted that to be a big industry, but those color fax machines just aren’t available yet !

InactiveI was alarmed when I saw a video on CNN.com entitled “porn addiction” the other day – not surprisingly in the most popular section. The guy talks about how his addiction drove a wedge between him and his wife. Apparently he looked at porn about three times a week (I´m glad he didn´t commit suicide, sounds like a really serious case :hehe:)
I agree that there may be attempts to outlaw porn but I think it will be a lot harder with something as readily available as porn. As a sideeffect they will obviously destroy a lot of Amercain´s livelihoods again and leave the field to everyone else.

InactiveDid you ever see wordtracker?
porn and related keywords are always the most searched for terms.

InactiveAnyone who has said “they should go after porn” for the last 5 years can now celebrate. :santa2:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/19/AR2005091901570_pf.html
Quote:The FBI is joining the Bush administration’s War on Porn. And it’s looking for a few good agents.Early last month, the bureau’s Washington Field Office began recruiting for a new anti-obscenity squad. Attached to the job posting was a July 29 Electronic Communication from FBI headquarters to all 56 field offices, describing the initiative as “one of the top priorities” of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and, by extension, of “the Director.” That would be FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III.
This is adult porn, for adults, btw. If you’ve seen any, you should know that it is hurting your family.

..and your local community, animals, the rainforest, and the planet at large.:cheesy:
By the way if you want a little fun you can check out google trends for porn keywords and look at the cities that come up. I must say the Brits are ranking quite well on some of the more kinky terms (no, I didn´t check pokemon sex). Citizens of Birmingham what the hell are you looking at

vladcizsolMemberI tell you guys, I see it coming. The video propoganda running now on CNN is the SAME stuff they threw at us. It raises the same arguments about:
Damaging Families financially and morally
Causing Addiction
Access by minors to objectionable materials
Etc…
Watch the videos, they even quote the same statistics “$12 billion dollars a year industry” Blah Blah Blah
They are building the case for an assault on that industry. And now looking at the article OneGuy located we see they are amassing the shock troops.
:help:

InactiveThis is all a big show for elections. The Republicans are feeling desperate, and are preaching the morality ticket. Guaranteed you will be hearing some anti-gambling hyperbole from the ranks in the next few weeks too.
Bill Frist’s Tennessee election is a statistical dead heat as we speak. Why did he bow out 2 years before his Presidential bid ???? Because a loss of his seat in a 2006 election would have been devastating to his Presidential bid. Sorry for digressing here, but I really want to see this loser go down hard.

InactiveThe USA has really gone backwards with this administration. Next thing they will make it illegal to be a homosexual. Afterwards it will be illegal to believe in evolution.

And after that, they will probably outlaw selling crack cocaine to elementary-school age children. What on earth is going on in our country ????October 18, 2006 at 5:21 pm #712410Anonymous
Inactive> Next thing they will make it illegal to be a homosexual.
> Afterwards it will be illegal to believe in evolution.– that would be more funny if there weren’t people who wished it were so already in power.

These crooked sons a bitches are going to tinker with anything and everthing to disrupt the system. That way when they fix the votes come Novemeber; they can say thats what american wanted.
Heck they cant make homosexuality illegal; most of them would be out of a job!

InactiveWill they shut up about being the land of the free now? It got tiresome 100 years ago and it was still a lie then.
Porn is much more accessible than gambling btw – just type in ‘tits’ on google, that isn’t particularly difficult. Gambling by a minor would take a lot of effort, weeks even.

InactiveWell, first people need to realize that GENERALLY “obscene” and “porn” are two different things. Porn is protected by the 1st amendment. Obscene material isn’t. For porn to be outlawed, a case will have to be made that proves porn is obscene. Trying to link the garden variety porn to the term obscene will be beyond difficult. More advanced forms of porn are more likely to be linked.
First, a law will have to be passed on the federal level. Second, the law will be challenged and make its way to the Supreme Court. Third, the Supreme Court will need to uphold said law by ruling it constitutional.
The community standards issue (Miller Test) don’t apply on the Internet, because it’s a border-less society.
It’s election time, the RepubliCONS are in trouble and it’s politicking time for all the hot button issues. I’m not saying that porn is or isn’t a problem, just that the only reason it’s getting play now is because the Republicans need to energize their base.
