InactiveCriteria:
Beach, sun, creature comforts, easy access for folks who don’t want to change planes in the US.
Easy reach from Canada and GIGSE.
Bahamas and Mexico come to mind.

InactiveThe Bahamas is the one I vote for 2007. Then maybe Mexico for 2008 would be great.

InactiveGday Guys,
Is there an option there that wouldn’t require us guys from Australia to go through the states to reach?

vladcizsolMemberTrish can you connect through Canada?
September 18, 2006 at 11:32 pm #706451
vladcizsolMemberGIGSE is June 5 -7 in Montreal. So we will probably shoot for May 31 through June 4th.

vladcizsolMemberTrish I couldn’t locate direct flights from Canada to the Bahamas on Orbitz.
Note: I couldnt find direct flights from Sydney to Montreal either without a stop over at a US airport in either Los Angeles or Honolulu, so how are you aussies planning on going to GIGSE?
But I did find Direct Flights from LONDON to the Bahamas. And I would be willing to bet there are direct flights from London to Montreal. Thank God for Richard Branson!

InactiveGday Prof,
To be honest with you, we are not sure what we could do via Canada. We just wanted to mention it now before anything is finalised just incase we are not able to get there.
Wouldn’t want to miss the beer and fun with you all

Cheers
Trish

InactiveThere’s so many of us Aussies in the industry now, and so many people from the northern hemisphere wanting to come down here, with no excuse so far, perhaps CAP should organise a Winter Getaway to Aussie Land

We have the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Uluru (Ayers Rock), Dreamworld, 45 degree days in summer (that’s 113F), Bondi Beach. What more can you need for a CAP Winter Getaway!?
Come on Prof, tell us you’ve at least considered it

InactiveGood Ol’ Australia ….so close yet sooo far!!!
I think us Aussies may have to fly via London to get to Montreal next year!!!
Australia is a good idea and what about South Africa? There are plenty of our collegues there plus its “kinda” central! Only a 13 hr flight from Sydney to Joburg.
Although you can’t beat the summer sun and the Northern Hemisphere is the only place heating up that time of year…..it’s a tuff one……..
Mexico would be good if we could get there via South America – tequila

InactiveI’ve got to get a passport anyway, but for people who have traveled to Bahama’s before without one, be aware of the New Passport Restrictions: Effective December 31st, 2006, all U.S. citizens traveling / returning from the Caribbean must have a valid U.S. passport in order to re-enter the U.S.
