This is a very sad story.

InactiveHoly Shit, J. Todd!
What a horrible way to end your trip in Vegas.
I have been to Vegas many times and I’ve never seen anything like that.
I’m so sorry to hear about this. I really admire your guts in fighting back and chasing the bastard down. Thank god the cops got him. I’d hate to think about the guy getting away free to beat up on somebody else.
It’s unbelievable that NOBODY in the crowd did anything to help you!
Very sad commentary on our society.

GuestWow. That is one hell of a story. Lucky you weren’t hurt worse! Great going, calling the police and delivering the culprits.
…for some strange reason the theme to “COPS” is running through my head…. bad boy, bad boy, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you…

vladcizsolMemberJ. Todd I am very glad to hear you made it thru this allright. It is indeed a sad commentary on the world as Dave said about the people who sat back and watched all this crap without lifting a finger.
Please tell us that at least one of these pieces of shit was charged with attempted murder or at least assault with a deadly weapon.
Were these four assholes robbing the original victim? Was that guy ok?

InactiveHey Connie, Dave, Janet, & Lou…
Thank you all for you sincere concerns… No matter what we all go through, we just have to remember that there are many more good people than bad… and I’ll be damned if I’ll let the bad ones destroy me.
I’d be a liar if I said this hasn’t changed my life. It has, profoundly. But it’s my choice how it changes me. And I choose to become stronger, be thankfull, and see this for what it is: a few really messed-up people who cannot possibly be understood or figured out.
I’ll be back next year.

The original “victim” strangely ran off… maybe this was a staged event by a gang… or maybe it was some gang initiation? They were all Hispanic and dressed alike. That said, the nurses (who were the sweetest, kindest angels) were also Hispanic… so I do not hold any ill-will towards any race of people, and I do not think this was a hate crime.
The guy was charged with “Assault With Serious Bodily Injury” which(of course) is a fellony. I told them I would fly back to testifiy if needed, and to pursue civil damages for my phone, clothes, medication, and insurance deductible… which right now only adds up to about $750.

InactiveJ.
I’ve been sitting here in a kind of bewildered awe of your strength and resolve in this situation.
My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery, my friend.
I enjoyed meeting you in Las Vegas, and I’m proud to think that I’m a Texan like you. (Although I suspect that in comparison to you, I’m a giant marshmallow.)

Inactive😮 holey shit!
CRAZY – good to hear you are ok – and I commend you for having the courage to make the 911 call – cant believe all the onlookers chose to ignore their own duties! Maybe if someone had just yelled “COPS” – they would have all ran. I guess they thought it was just another free show.
best wishes,
Brian

InactiveHey Randy & Brian…
Yea, it’s a crazy world, guys… but I truly believe there are reasons for everything that happens to us, even if it makes no sense while it’s happening.
I won’t waste my time feeling sorry for myself, I’ve got a lot to be thankful for. And this has brought me so much closer to my family and friends… as I’m sure you can imagine.
I thank you both for your thoughts & kind words

InactiveWow what a night you must have had!
It’s a shame it happened, but good on you for having a go and getting the guy arrested. Very Well Done.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t surprise me that nobody helped you, thats typical of so many situations the world over these days.
At least someone had the guts to stand up against these people. Well done again and if I’m ever in Vegas, can I tag along with you – I’d feel safer?

InactiveSorry to hear this. As I was reading it I kept hoping that it was going to turn out to be just a joke or something. Unfortunately that was not the case.
It was only today I heard a story on the radio very similar where the person didn’t do anything to help. Sure they walked away unharmed but felt terrible and looking back wished they had gone to the aid of the original victim. I hope this doesn’t stop others from helping when needed.

InactiveDamn, J! Sorry to hear about this cowardly attack… I hope you are feeling better soon.
As usual, good to see you in Vegas – but feel bad that something like this happened and hope that this guy gets put away for a while.
