My question is this I have a site and I was wondering when adding additional categories to the site is it better to use subdomains or not?
would say that doesn’t matter.
I would do that as easy as possible.I have a gambling site and I put the different categories into subdirectories like poker and blackjack. I was wondering if is a good idea or bad idea or maybe it doesnt matter. I was just wondering if anyone knew how google would treat them?
Subcategories / subdirectories are fine. Examples:
yoursite.com/bingo/
yoursite.com/poker/
yoursite.com/slots/Subdomains are like this:
bingo.yoursite.com
poker.yoursite.com
slots.yoursite.comI read an article a while ago about subdomains, and the article said that Google treated each subdomain as a unique website. However, since each of these “unique” websites will have the same IP address, you should be careful if you link the subdomains together. From what I understand, sites can be penalized for excessive interlinking. I don’t know what is considered “excessive,” though.
Personally, I think it’s easier to use subdirectories. Just create a new folder in the main directory and you’re done. Subdomains require more work to set up, and I don’t know if there are any real benefits.
Most of the large casino portals I’ve seen use subdirectories, not subdomains.

The reason I have been using subdomains is it allows me to put the Page title in the front of the url, for instance I have a page for online bingo so the url is online-bingo.winningwomengamblers.com. The SEO software I use suggests to have the page title in the front of the url so subdomains was the only way I could figure out to do that. I am going to start two new pages maybe this month and I was just wondering if anyone had any experiance with this, good or bad.
