    Online betting company initiates lawsuit against the Netherlands government

    From the CAP News page:

    May 8, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Online betting company Betfair has reportedly initiated a lawsuit against the Dutch government. The cause? The Dutch Ministry of Justice’s recent letter urging banks in that nation not to place any bets on gambling websites — legal or not.

    If the banks obey the letter, Betfair (and other companies) would be effectively blocked from the Dutch public, in a situation uncomfortably reminiscent of the United States’ UIGEA laws.
