Hello,
are there any hotels near the Novotel West which are a bit less costly ?
And how long does it take from Stanstead to Hammersmith generally ?
I am planning to attend. First time at an CAP Euro event.
Thank you ! :hattip:

First Stanstead – It is a little bit of a way from Hammersmith so what ever you do do not get a taxi it will destroy you! I would get the stanstead express into Liverpool St which is pretty fast and very often – Then looking at the map easiest route is probably Central line to Holborn where you can get on the picadilly line to Hammersmith Or just get a taxi from Liverpool st
Re hotels – Give Margaret a call who is on the hotel page of the website – Her company is a hotel and venue finder so she may find you a good deal or TBH I always find the best deals online – Dom is always good at finding them as well – Use the usual websites for that

A taxi from Liverpool Street to Hammersmith takes around 30 mins and costs about £25.

Do that each way for 3 or 4 days and its cheaper to pay more for a room thats really close.

I don’t mean stay there – I mean when you get there from teh Stanstead Express – definitely don’t stay in Liverpool St – Its full of city boys and suits :phone:

I realise that now! What a doofus I am!
January 8, 2009 at 1:23 pm #792057AnonymousInactiveJust avoid the whole taxi-train thing and don’t fly into that hellhole (Stansted).
For West London, Heathrow is your best bet. If you add up train and taxi fare to your plane ticket you will find that flying into Heathrow probably costs the same or less.
From there simply take the Piccadilly Line to Hammersmith.Cheers

Look around some of the online booking sites, you can find the hotel much cheaper then the cap rate. I used american express travel for mine, and got whole trip with flight from New york, for less then i would have just paid the hotel.

Go to their website..I think iyou have to book by 27th Jan.
I agree, Stansted is a pain in the backside.
January 8, 2009 at 10:09 pm #792107AnonymousInactiveSo for us London 1st-timers, what would be the absolute must-sees on our tourist day?
Thanks in advance for your suggestionsJanuary 8, 2009 at 10:25 pm #792109vladcizsolMemberMy favorites are:
Tower of London
Buckingham Palace
London Eye
Harrods
Traditional Pub Lunch
Afternoon tea at Harrods or area hotelJanuary 8, 2009 at 10:38 pm #792110vladcizsolMemberBig Fish I forget to mention Covent Garden and its wonderful market on the weekend. Another fun thing is the Picadilly Circus area.
Hell, London is so big and so full of great things one day isnt enough to drink it all in.
January 8, 2009 at 10:56 pm #792113AnonymousInactiveThanks Professor

January 9, 2009 at 9:48 am #792134AnonymousInactiveGuys don’t forget the Sunday Session – We are doing the same as we did in Spain so in the morning a tour and then a beer session however there are now rumours of a SuperBowl Sunday party!!!! As I completely forgot its the Superbowl that day
Anwyay the tour is a private bus which goes from the hotel at 10am and ends at 1.30pm at the Beer Session – Each bus like Barcelona will have a tour guide and at each place you will get out and have a walking tour – I am told some of the places we will see are :
Westminster Abbey
House of Parliament, Big Ben, London Eye
Buckingham Palace
Covent Garden
Tower of London
St.Pauls CathedralWoo Hoo – Will be the first time in 8 years of living here that I do some proper tourism

Huh? Proper tourism?
Proper tourism for this crowd is Ladbrokes Casino, Hard Rock Casino, Honest Joe Blogg’s Shell Game…
