    FROM ASSOCIATED PRESS

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Barack Obama’s allies warn that John McCain’s attacks on the Democrat’s character will lead to the political equivalent of mutual assured destruction: fire your big weapon at your own peril.

Several Obama surrogates said his supporters may start reminding voters of McCain’s ties to Charles Keating, a convicted savings and loan owner whose actions two decades ago triggered a Senate ethics investigation that involved McCain as one of the ‘‘Keating Five.’’

The warnings of massive retaliation came as McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, took on the role of attacker and said that Obama sees America as so imperfect ‘‘that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.’’

She was referring to an early Obama supporter, 1960s radical Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground whose members were blamed for several bombings when Obama was a child.

Obama has denounced Ayer’s radical views and activities. But he’s not above questioning McCain’s character with loaded words.

On Sunday Obama unveiled a TV ad on the economy that paints McCain was ‘‘erratic in a crisis.’’ Some see that as a reminder of McCain’s age, 72.

Democrats were well-synchronized Sunday, using the word ‘‘erratic’’ and Keating’s name in nearly-matching sentences across the talk show circuit.

I posted this before, but it’s worth seeing again:

McCain can not be trusted. His campaign is run almost entirely by lobbyists. His pick for VP was chosen by Limbaugh & the batshit crazy far right. Remember when McCain was surging during the primary & Limbaugh & those of his ilk said they would never support him? Well, they obviously struck a deal, because they sure do now. The Palin choice as VP was part of the compromise for the far right support. Just imagine what will happen if McCain is elected. His decisions for our country will be entirely influenced & pressured by far right ideology & lobbyists. Exactly like the last 8 years of Bush & look where that got us.

Here is what i expect from McCain:

    1. This week: he’s a friend to terrorist, look at all these people we hate that we’re trying to link to him.

    2. Next Week : Willie Horton. They’ll find a sound bite where Obama says/wrote “if the accusations are true SOME_CONVICTED_CRIMINAL should be released, pending a new trial”

Then run the ad: Obama say “SOME_CONVICTED_CRIMINAL should be released. Eventhough he was convicted of rape and murder”

    3. Last Week before election: It’s time for the “N Word”, just like Helms vs Gant “He’s not one Us(white folks)”.

You read it here first. Will 2 and 3 occur as predicted?

Oh yea, it’s going to get extremely ugly because the dem’s are not going to make the mistake of taking all the blows about Obama without throwing a few themselves.

I’m sad to see it go down like this, but if they “go getto” (like McPalin did) then they will get what they deserve. I believe that most folks will see this for what it is.

I figured since McPalin is digging up dirt that I’d see what’s out there on them. It’s well known that John McCain voted against MLK day. What was wrong with giving Martin his day?

On his campaign bus recently, Sen. John McCain told reporters, “I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live.” Although McCain said he was referring only to his prison guards, there are many reasons why his use of the word “gook” is offensive and alarming.

It is offensive because by using a racial epithet that has historically been used to demean all Asians to describe his captors, McCain failed to make a distinction between his torturers and an entire racial group.

It is alarming because a major candidate for president publicly used a racial epithet, refused to apologize for doing so and remains a legitimate contender.

    McCain: racist, bigot & homophobe
    August 1, 2008 – 7:14am.
    By DOUG THOMPSON

John McCain, a member of the House of Representatives in the mid-1980s, often held court at a table near the bar at Bullfeathers, a popular Capitol Hill watering hole, telling jokes and matching hangers-on drink by drink.

As a Capitol Hill chief of staff, I often drank at Bullfeathers and was invited to join the throng at McCain’s table one evening. A few minutes listening to the racism, bigotry and homophobia of the Arizona Congressman told me all I needed to know.

McCain loved to tell jokes about lesbians, blacks, Hispanics and the Vietnamese community that occupied a large section of Arlington County, Virginia, just south of the District of Columbia.

Of course, McCain didn’t use polite language in the jokes: He used names like “fags” or “queers” or “dykes” or “niggers” or “spics” or “wetbacks” or “gooks.”

A typical McCain joke (overheard at Bullfeathers):

Two dykes are talking at a bar and one leaves. As she walks toward the door, the other watches her leave and says out loud: “God, I’ve love to eat her out.”

Two men are standing near by and one turns to the other and says: “I’d like to do the same. Guess that makes me a dyke.”

Or another (also overheard at Bullfeathers):

Question: Why does Mexican beer have two “X’s” on the label?

Answer: Because wetbacks always need a co-signer.

(McCain has a documented history of lesbian jokes. He’s also come under fire for other jokes about rape.)
