Hi all,
I put together a list of programs that track by using sessions only (i.e. no cookies). The list appears below.
With session tracking, your referral must register at the casino while the browser window remains open. If he/she closes the browser and comes back the next day and types the casino URL into the address bar, you will not be tagged to that player. 🙁
Please note that this is not a complete list. Also note that the use of session tracking doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t make money with a particular program. I earn money with Fortune Affiliates, for example, despite the absence of cookies. I would probably earn more, though, if cookies were in place along with sessions… :wink-wink
Programs that use session tracking
Fortune Affiliates
Grand Prive
PlayShare
Referback
Star Partner
Trident Share
Villento
WagerShareThe programs below do use cookies for tracking. Some of them use cookies and sessions, which is GREAT, but I didn’t take time to figure out exactly which programs do that. Again, note that the list below is not a complete list.
Programs that use cookies
32Red
Affiliate Club
Blue Square
Bodog
Brightshare
Casino Coins
CWC Affiliates
Euro Partners
GetMinted
Gnuf
Jackpotjoy
Mainstreet
Paddy Power
PartnerLogic
Red Returns
Revenue Giants
Rewards Affiliates
Roxy Affiliates
Vegas Affiliates
Virgin Gamesand
All Rival casino affiliate programs
Please post in this thread if you have tracking information about any other programs. Affiliate managers, if your program doesn’t appear on either list, please post in this thread and let us know where it belongs! :hattip:

My favorites would use overwriteable cookies as well as sessions
Next would be overwriteable cookies
Next would be just sessions
and last would be non-overwriteable cookies
July 15, 2008 at 7:23 pm #772829AnonymousInactiveI checked this today as well. You can add Bet365 and Ladbrokes to the list. I must say though that while some of these programs like Brighshare and 32red track for years others like Bodog seem to have a pretty pathetic duration of 2 weeks.
Still better than the session only programs but I’m glad Fortune is looking into this. Session tracking is really bad and is costing affiliates millions. I don’t know a single program in any serious industry that tracks using sessions only.
July 15, 2008 at 7:32 pm #772831AnonymousInactiveSo far, 32Red is the only one in the list above that uses non-overwritable cookies. I know there are more, but I haven’t discovered them yet.

Same here.

If I recall Fortune had that exit popup so I’m assuming that signups via the exit pop up are not credit to the referring affiliate.
Also If i remember correctly, with cookies if the expiry date is not set it is a temporary cookie that won’t be written to the cookie file. It will be forgotten when the browser is closed.
July 15, 2008 at 8:00 pm #772835AnonymousInactiveVery interesting…thanks Engineer. I just assumed everyone used cookies. Sessions on their own are not affiliate-friendly, although like you say, you can still see good results. Gonna have to think about this…I remember as a player starting out I used to bookmark casinos, compare reviews at different sites then go back to the one I wanted. Then again i get reasonable downloads at somewhere like Referback. Hmmm.
July 15, 2008 at 8:23 pm #772837AnonymousInactiveVery good work, Engineer! Thanks,it’s very interesting.
July 15, 2008 at 9:02 pm #772839AnonymousInactiveThanks for this list Engineer, I think it will definitely place some properties above the fold on my websites. I’m happy that these questions were pointed out as another great filter among affiliate programs.
Thanks again
July 15, 2008 at 10:42 pm #772841AnonymousInactiveBy the way, you can check cookie expiry dates and last accessed times in IE:
/tools/internet options/general tab/(browsing history section)/settings/view files
July 15, 2008 at 11:29 pm #772842AnonymousInactiveThanks Engineer. I thought that they only used cookies. This will make a difference in position.
July 16, 2008 at 5:24 pm #772922AnonymousGuestHi all,
well I would think it would greatly make a difference.
I was also unaware. Thank you for bringing this to light.
Explains a lot IMO.
