If someone does all their homework and puts a good amount of effort into their site how long does it usually take to show a decent profit from casino/poker affiliating? If this question is too broad I’d be interested in hearing how long it took for some of you guys when you first started out along with how long it takes now that you’re established in the industry.

I got lucky and got a good player fairly quickly… But that was still 3-6 months (can’t remember) from start. I didn’t have ANY players big or small besides that one, though, for about 1 year or more.

So – had that player not come along, it would have been dismall and I, likely, would have quit.

    Any other stories?

Took me about a year to have any income at all, and then I plowed it back into the site…. depends on what you want to do, I wanted to build a solid site that would stand the test of time, and I did so.

I started by doing pay per click campaigns, and I saw immediate profits. It took a few months before I started making what I considered “significant” profits. I think if you’re plan is to launch a gambling portal and do SEO on it, you should probably plan for at least six months of content and link development before you start to make “significant” profits, and that’s assuming you do things right. (If you do everything wrong, you might not ever make any money.)

It took me about a year and a half before I started seeing a steady income with my casino site. My poker site has been up since June of this year and I am just now starting to see some income from it.

Guess it depends on your definition of “decent profit” going by my definition (which I won’t quantify) it took us 11 months after launching the site to have consistent and “decent” returns.

MY answer has to be …. “it depends”.
    :shhh:

It’s certainly a different environment now from when i started – lots more traffic, but lots more competition too.

New sites seem to take time to build up decent results from SEO, and obtaining FREE quality links seems to be hard to achieve as well.

So you either throw money into a new site, buying paid links, buying content (etc) … or you pour your time and effort into a site.

If you want to speed up the process then you do both.

So therefore the answer is not as simple as x months effort = y monthly revenue.

    Sorry.

    Hi,

    my 2 cents:

what you’ve read so far is just the start of the process.

even if you get SEO’d to an extent you get traffic … you need to research and test to find the sponsors that won’t either out right cheat you blind or beat you to death with rediculous terms (which some add into the game as they go along whenever they see fit).

The amount of small-minded, greedy … can’t see the dollar for the damn dime in front of their beady little eyes .. sponsors that are found in this niche is unbelieveable.

You’d think that with the kind of money involved that you’d be dealing with intelligent people who can on their own merit … come to the conclusion that this industry is all about reputation and that if they don’t cheat people .. they’ll prosper exceedingly more in the long run but that is simply not the case.

Just in the last couple days a sponsor with like 6 or 8 casinos let their reputation go to shit over not paying somebody they wouldn’t allow to gamble … the $50 they had deposited in the begining.

$50! And now due to that and the fact they are not making themselves available to address this piddly-assed situation … plus another few situations where they locked accounts to players because they thought their play was suspicious or ……… lets see, I think one description was undesireable, not suspicious ….

they’ve forced myself and I’d imagine a considerable number of others to have to go thru and take out their links.

I’m still fuming about this …… well not sure if I’m more pissed or more just stunned anybody with an IQ over 40 would allow this to happen ……

but anyway, give you an idea what you’re up against.

    good luck.

I really wasn’t looking for a specific answer, just interested in hearing how long the process took for other people.

I had an idea that I thought might work, so I figured that I’d tell my poker playing pals at work about my site. I mentioned a few big tourneys with smaller buy ins and huge guarenteed tourneys. I told them about neteller and helped a few sign up. They were droolin! I was able to convert a few regular players at several sites, before I have even submitted my site to any type of directory. The site I had up was truly pathetic. (and still is but slightly less) And still converted well. Then there had been about 6 months with no new activity, so I figured to tell more people what I was doing.
Got some free business cards from a site online. Very basic, very clear.

    step1) http://www.neteller.com
    step2) www . “mysite” .com
    step3) My online chat ID
    Phone #
    Hours available

So now its off to the poker room for a $13 buy in Omaha hi/lo tourney. In California a good Omaha game is hard to find, so I figured this would be an easy sell. I played so GD tight in this tourney and passed out 22 cards to tourney players that wanted more Omaha in their life. Within a week I had 7 new sign ups. Three of them needed to call me for help. One needed to know how to turn on the computer.
Some of these players have moved on to WSOP events from online play, and some have quit, or just play someplace else. But this helped me make some cash quickly and reminded me that nothing beats good old customer service.
