msn beta search

sharpgambler asked 3 years ago
MSN launched beta search to replace, over the next 12 months, its search system.

I’ve tried for a couple of searches and it seems to present more results than google. For example if you try to search link:www.domain.com you will have something more close to the real number of sites linking to yours than you get from the same search on google.

But try yourself and post any comments:

I love the new beta search, I wish they would integrate it now.

I am happy with it also.

I think it is very good. It seems that it goes deeper indexing websites and has a very different algorythm to rank pages.

It is also faster to find your website.

It’s too soon to have a well formed opinion about the new search, but I would like to see it live replacing the old one.

Today I changed my webpage and I notice that this beta search is very dinamic. Changes to your websites will reflect on search results on the same day. Your rank can change dramatically over 2 days.

I seen a special on CNN today about the beta search … the MSN reps were stating they plan on taking Googles share over of course if they didnt think they had a shot they probably wouldnt have entered the market.

Sure looks a lot better than yahoo to me! Im not sure they can replace Google – lets give a few years – at least a few months LOL

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, but by using the link: function in msn the list of sites seem to come up with the “better sites” first. I hope Randy doesn’t mind me using his site as an example, but I did a link: command on one of my domains, the second ranked site that came up was his site (http://www.25casinos.com with title Internet Casinos). Sure enough when I searched for Internet Casinos his site came up #2. This happened with alot of other tests I did.

Yahoo and Google don’t do this as far as I can tell. This will sure make finding sites to link to alot easier.

I’d like to mention that so far MSN is the only search engine to actually like my sites. LOL
