New Jersey's New Online Gambling Bill

March 25, 2010 (CAP Newswire) – The latest U.S. state to introduce a bill aiming to legalize online gambling within its borders is New Jersey. And, like many other states grappling with this idea, the plan is to limit the online gambling legalization to certain brands within the state, which could possibly be disastrous to the international online gambling affiliate marketing industry.

“New Jersey Assembly Bill 2570, introduced into by Assemblyman John Burzichelli, would enable New Jersey residents to place wagers on casino games, including poker, via the Internet,” writes Brett Collson at Poker News Daily.

“We’re happy that New Jersey has taken this issue into their own hands,” said Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (iMEGA) chairman Joe Brennan Jr. “New Jersey is recognized as having the toughest gaming regulators in the US, but as a leading gaming state with a long track record of doing things the right way, Internet gambling will have a great home here and the opportunity to begin normalizing the industry.”

If the bill passes, overseas online gambling brands will not be allowed in New Jersey. For this reason, online casino affiliate marketers may be better off with a federal-level online gambling regulation solution, such as the one proposed by U.S. Congressman Barney Frank.
