I recently downloaded the casino properties from United Partner Program (I periodically check what I advertise!), and my virus scanner Nod32 is detecting the following threat:
“a variant of Win32/Adware.Casino application”
And it moves to quarantine. Is this a virus?
Before I never got this problem, is there something new added to the software that is causing this? I’m not ruling out that there might be something wrong with my computer, but I can install casinos from other networks fine.
If anyone wants to check, one of their properties is http://www.casinolux.com.
August 12, 2007 at 3:52 am #745340AnonymousInactiveI tried downloading and my Norton picked up the same as a spyware. I think United Partner needs to check this out and tell us what they are up to?
August 12, 2007 at 10:45 am #745347LucretiaMemberWhen I download the casino Lux software I also get the message : unwanted program -Casonline- by McAfee. It can block the user to actually download the program unless they press continue what you are doing.
I emailed my affiliatemanager Fleur (affiliatedweb/unitedpartner program) about this (thread) and to give me an answer. She will deal with this asap. I am sure she will because I contacted her just recently.
I hope this will be resolved quickly and we need no longer worry about this.
Best Regards,
Rick
August 13, 2007 at 7:10 pm #745458LucretiaMemberI got an email from Affiliatedweb, they are aware of the problem (mainly NOD32) and are working on it.
Best Regards
RickAugust 13, 2007 at 7:21 pm #745462ModelzMemberHi, Everyone,
Thanks for addressing this issue. As Rick mentioned we are looking into why several different virus softwares are listing us as virus and/or Adware software. Sometime when we make an update to the site, this happens (and we made one recently).
In the meantime, I can assure you that nothing about our software will harm your system.
Best regards,
Damian Stevens

August 16, 2007 at 1:32 pm #745770AnonymousInactiveAvast has no problem with it. I remember years ago when something similar happened. False positives are common…
Hope those companies remove that warning soon…
August 16, 2007 at 3:17 pm #745787ModelzMemberWe are trying to contact several of the virus softwares that have us flagged to correct the matter.
As mentioned before (and in the preivous response), these are false flags from the software companies.
We apologize for the inconvenience it has caused and are doing everything we can to have these companies remove us from their warning list.

Affiliated Web AttractionsAugust 21, 2007 at 10:38 pm #746315AnonymousInactiveI was mistaken. Avast also flag it as a virus: Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}
with the latest 21st of August update. This is a big problem…
August 22, 2007 at 1:41 pm #746360ModelzMemberThanks for the follow up. I’ll relay this to the technical department. Hopefully we can get this all cleared up soon.

August 22, 2007 at 6:32 pm #746398AnonymousInactiveWith the latest update NOD32 still flags it as a trojan.
I’m not a computer expert, exactly what causes these “false positive alerts”?
I think it is quite strange how most if not all virus scanners now suddenly flag this software. Was something bad added to the software? I don’t know what to think now. I hope a computer expert will correct my assumption. :allears:
August 22, 2007 at 6:53 pm #746400ModelzMemberAce$pade,
This is actually a very common occurance for many gambling sites. I’m not sure what causes it, but as you can see by the copy and paste of the response we received from Advert, this is nothing they are not used to.
The “false positive” was a term used by the virus company, not Affiliated Web/UPP.
I can assure you that nothing “bad” was added to the software. This sometimes happens when we make any major updates to the software, which we did recently.

Partners Account ManagerAugust 22, 2007 at 7:10 pm #746406AnonymousInactiveVirus scanners all want to show as many prevented infections as possible, that makes them competitive.
This is basically good, as it makes them thorough, but it is a mixed blessing.
They do automatically delete cookies of their choosing. The more the merrier, for above reasons.
The free internet depends on cookies. Most of the websites offering free info depend on sales from clicks, and the resulting cookies.
If this progresses to where only things like adsense escape…… you can see the picture that emerges for affiliates of all descriptions.
August 22, 2007 at 9:28 pm #746418AnonymousInactiveif i run ad-aware it finds loads of casino cookies,
(warning!! malicious!!)
i dont want those to be deleted… -
