Following the security breach at Absolute Poker, it has been the top priority of the new management team at AP to ensure that the site is a trusted, safe, and secure environment for our customers.
This letter details some of the recent security enhancements that have been made at Absolute Poker. Some of these changes were required by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), our regulatory body, as a result of the security breach. Others were commissioned solely at AP’s request because they represent best practices within the industry. Whether externally mandated or internally driven, the improvements cited below represent a few examples of a systemic effort at AP to provide the safest environment in online gaming.
These include:
♦ Creating positive ID programs for all customer accounts
♦ Enhancing account controls and the process for adjusting accounts
♦ Prohibiting employees from playing on AP’s site
♦ Developing an enforceable Code of Conduct and Whistleblower Policy.
♦ Ensuring that system logs follow best practices, and that hand histories are not deleted.
♦ Creating a new position, a Chief Compliance Officer, to continuously monitor AP’s compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations.
♦ Subjecting large transfers and withdrawals to multiple levels of approval by senior management.
♦ Maintaining a continuous audit of operations.In addition, AP is currently organizing the “Online Poker Security Summit 2008” in order to share lessons-learned from the AP security breach and to facilitate an industry-wide discussion on best practices concerning the security, fairness, and transparency of online poker. The Summit will also enlist the expertise of world-renowned security specialists in charting pro-active measures designed to strengthen both AP and the online gaming community at-large.
