Dutch papers are saying sportsbooks are still legal though.

    Hi Remco,

I hear there will be another conference in Amsterdam early next year. I hope you will be there!!!

And these laws are making criminals out of decent people, and the only reason is that governments want to pocket the money.

    Shame on them!

I am going to ask Marc if he is having a conference there given the legal changes.

It just doesn’t make much sense to have an online gambling conference in a country where it’s now illegal and where the casinos no longer market to or accept players.

If I were calling the shots I would say London would be a much better venue.

    A couple of points:

    1) I Have heard from some large books that the France Visa Ban HAD gone into effect. Most scrambled to process from other countries.

    2) Amsterdam: There are many things brewing in Europe, both FOR and against online casinos.

The event has been scheduled to take place April 15-16, 2004 at the NH Krasnapolsky hotel. It may be moved forward by one week, but that is unlikely.

I’m not concerned about an event in Amsterdam that focuses on Marketing of an online casino. Neither would the casino establishment there or the governement. The Netherlands government is only acting now to try to stop casinos from taking bets from Dutch citizens, just like the way the US is trying to stop casinos from taking bets from their citizens. There is a whole world out there beyond the borders of one country.

This time, I have the event at the Krasnapolsky hotel, which is adjacent to the Red Light district….More fun at night for you guys :-)

But during the day….I still run the event like college, and it is stikll a business conference, focusing on marketing and advertising for the casino industry. Increasing Traffic and Conversions will be the topics.

Thanks for the update Marc. I am surprised you stuck with Amsterdam, but I suppose its as good a place as any.
