What I think is that in the United States that you need to create another political party besides the Republicans and Democrats. By doing this not one party may never have total control.

You sir are a genius. On behalf of my fellow Nitwits we thank you.

Your third most popular party means nothing. The main parties are still the Democrats and Republicans, the others are filler. :happydanc

Really, there isn’t all that much difference between Republicans and Democrats. And there is a grey area between them where they blend. If you look closely at party systems in some other democratic countries and compare, this becomes blatant.

It’s green apples versus red apples.

But it’s what there is, and it still makes a difference who is in power.

Every country has it’s good and bad.

I chose Canada because it’s a less violent society, a socialist society, where the economy is still pretty free and at this point in time, more personal freedom.

You can’t beat the US, when it comes to starting/running a business, but Canada(ontario) is close. I’ve hired and fired a staff this year. I used Ceridian to do the payroll and handle all the government stuff, just like my US company does. There is a lower social security tax and overtime rules that are more favorable to the employer than in the US.

As many have said before, taxes are high (though Alberta is probably lower taxes than CA, NY, IL, MA, etc.), the health system is best for the healthy and very sick, but often bad for those in pain/distress without a life threatening condition.

I’m pretty confident that when it comes to running a business and keeping your wealth in a wealthy country, the rankings look something like this:

    1. US
    2. Canada
    3. Australia
    4. Japan
    4. UK
    5. Germany

Anyone have anything to add about business/taxes/freedom in other western countries? Is my list right or wrong?

BTW – if we can get away from the “My country is better than yours” stuff, this is an interesting discussion. Especially with so many people wondering if they should leave US for business purposes.

This is a good link to articles about the Bush Family and their connection with Nazi Third Reich during the Second World War. I am only making people aware of what George Bush really is.

Alberta and its famous good economy. Now also the most polluted place in North America. Canada proved to the world with their tar sands that they were just as greedy as any government south of their borders.

Debt is virtual, Canadians would love to get more debt, but the banks won’t let them to.

Russia has a very low national and individual debt. Does it make it a better place to live? Ask any Russian.

Quit attacking each other’s country, because using logic you can prove a point and its exact opposite. 1 – 1. Draw. Game over.

I just read in Sunday’s USA today that there is a debate over allowing children to celebrate halloween. Right wing christians think halloween is evil and want to stop celebrations because it would be harmful for children.

    how low can it go?

I have many friends in USA and great admiration for many of its citizens, and really like this place but guys and girls, please give yourself (.. and the World) a favour and get out to vote out these idiots.

About Canada: We will take care of our own “mini-bush” here at next elections. He has been elected only because of a big scandal here caused by the other party (Liberals) when it was in power and people were angry and wanted to punish them. Their government is in minority and recent polls show that they are on a downward spiral here.
