London, June 1 — Tobias van Siebenthal won the 3LT Baden, the first stop on the inaugural 3 Länder Poker Tour presented by Everest Poker. The 20-year-old from Switzerland cashed 160,600 CHF after dominating the field at the Grand Casino Baden.

Finishing Day 2 as the chipleader, Tobias remained in the top position throughout all of Day 3 and most of the Final Table. Tobias secured his victory after a final heads up battle with Italian-born Swiss resident Massimilano Nestola (113,900 CHF). Renowned rounder Matthais Kurcher of Germany finished third (80,000 CHF)

202 players from 28 countries traveled to Baden, Switzerland for the first 3LT stop, creating a prize pool of 606,000 CHF — well above the event’s 500,000 CHF guarantee. Other notable poker names at the 3LT included Dr. Michael Keiner, Katya Thater, Markus Lehmann, Besim Hot.

Everest Poker was well-represented by several sponsored players, including Team Everest’s Cristiano Blanco of Italy and Japan’s Kim Wooka. More than half of the 2010 Live the Dream Team played the inaugural event, including recent SPT Ibiza runner-up Tobias Wagner, and France’s Fabien Perrot and Julien Claudepierre. Francesco de Vivo, the runner-up in the recent EPT Copenhagen finished fourth and returns to Italy with 58,000 CHF, while the Netherlands’ Koen de Bakker (18th) and France’s Leo Truche (12th) both posted in-the-money finishes.

The 3LT Baden also marked the debut of the newly-named Everest Poker Team Switzerland. Kaspar Schmid, Mirko Kratochvila and Xavier Pillet competed against hundreds of other Swiss players to each win a year-long Everest Poker sponsorship to Switzerland’s top live events.

Olaf Schimpf, spokeperson for Everest Poker, could not be more pleased with the enormous success of the first 3LT tournament. “We have successfully launched a new poker tour in the three German-speaking nations.”

“All who joined us in Baden offered terrific feedback about the quality of the event, and I’m sure many more international poker players will be adding the 3LT to their schedule.”

The next stop on the 3 Länder Poker Tour is the 3LT Warnemünde Beach, beginning on August 27th.
