I think it is safe to say that it would say “pending”. When I was new I would worry my sitemap and now that I am sure Yoast does it automatically, I have not thought about it since. You do know that you can rank a site with no problem while never having a site map. In fact I would speculate that it is only useful if your menu structure is not user friendly or written heavily in Java, making it hard to understand to spiders.
Focus on getting quality content up and gaining links to it from natural sources, like social media.
