Processed means it is on its way to the index. The index means it is actually listed on a SERP. (Search Engine Results Page). Just because Google crawled it and now they should know what it contains, they now will use their algorithms to rank where it will appear.
When my site was young it would take weeks to see a page listed. Now it takes only a couple of hours and the new article jumps to page 3 or sometimes higher. You can speed the process up by using the “fetch as Google” tool one time in your Webmaster tools, but as Venom said nothing is better than a relevant link on a quality page.
