Well, last year I could tell you with confidence that a tag cloud can be effective at engineering your keyword relevance if thoughtfully implemented. Effective, IMHO, if and only if you had enough pagerank to share and support the effort with other internal and external indicators. At the moment, I’m not as confident to lend support one way or the other.
It can be a handy tool to suggest to the user what information the collective mind thinks is relevant.
