Sorry, actually it does index some new WordPress posts instantly 
I was at my brothers house, and I did not believe this until I saw it with my own eyes. He said that he has a plugin that pings Google whenever a new post is created. I did not believe him, so he gave me a demonstration. He created a new page in front of me with a unique title, then he published it on his WordPress blog. Within about a minute or so, it was cached in Google when we searched for it. Pretty insane stuff! I think it also had something to do with the blog being PR 4 and having a lot of links too
