Well, there are just so many… for instance, if I buy a song from istore, I have to make a second purchase to get the ringtone. On droid, there are free music sharing apps, so I have had this galaxy s for about 5 days and have downloaded 200+ songs already, free and direct to my phone.
Also, there are free apps to cut up and segment songs, and turn them to ring tones. easily found in the droid store.
Droid also seems very functional, seems a lot of love went into making it. When Im using the music player, listening to a song.. I can be searching for music in the free filesharing app, then slide down from the top, and get the process’, pause the song Im listening to, then listen to a sample of the prospective download, then slide the top down and unpause my current playlist, then keep searching for songs in the app. Literally a 2 second process.. very functional.
Another thing I really liked, I was in the settings, and clicked “roam” and the phone gave me a sort of error, saying exactly “Allow data roaming? You may incur significant roaming charges!”
Now, anyone who buys phones for their kids… has probably experienced the $500 roaming charge one month or another because the kid plays with the settings not knowing its going to cost extra with it on.
Instant messaging works great, so far Ive been using it with skype, msn, and google chat.
Also the contacts are very well organized.. I have twitter, hotmail, facebook, gmail, and a couple of my personal domain email address’ in the phone, the phone adds all those contacts to your contact list when you add the accounts, then when you have doubles, you simply link the profiles together. All in all, seems very functional to me.
With iphone, you cannot even remove the battery, or upgrade the phone. My galaxy s came 16gb with the OPTION to upgrade storage. Also battery comes out.
Iphone doesnt use sim cards either, so good luck transferring your contacts to anything but another apple phone.
I havent played much with this part yet, but there seems to be a function where I can stream music from my phone, directly to a tv with wireless.. also can stream from the phone, through my home server, to my denon 5308CI on network audio. Very cool… instead of having to purchase the iphone dock… I can hold the phone in my hand, from anywhere in the house, and use it like a remote. I can also stream from the server to the phone.
Im not going to say droid is perfect, I have had to do a couple of hard reboots on the phone (I think because of app conflicts… that I deleted and resolved) but droid has been everything I expected and more. And on the samsung galaxy s, for half the price of the iphone..
I got to say when I bought the iphone 3gs, I was surprised that after spending $1000 on the phone (when it was new) that apple actually limited what I could do. It seems everything that could possibly hurt apples bottom line, is not allowed on the iphone or in istore. I find it to be unethical, and I dread the day that a company like that has too much control in the market.
Im sure there are 100 more reasons.. but those have been most apparent to me.
