Well, as we have said all along, legalization of online gaming should unquestionably happen, but of course, the underlying restrictions will effect affiliates in a big way. My take has always been that legalization will result in Las Vegas entities entering the market big-time, and this will resultingly have a commodotized effect on affiliate commissions (probably small CPA’s). For CA to take this a step further, and make it a crime to play outside of CA, is a crime itself, in my view. However, do you really expect a state that cannot manage itself out of a paper bag (financially) to have the smarts and capabilities to police dog players as to where they are playing ? Sure, such a law will scare a certain percentage of players from playing outside CA, but unless CA gets ISP’s to physically block destination IP addresses of other Poker entities, then this law is purely a scare tactic and nothing more. And even if they were to “regulate” the Internet and block these IP’s, there are still many technical ways around it…..the proxy server business will thrive ! Hearing this just proves what idiots these lawmakers truly are.
