Some are by cookies and some embed the affiliate id in the exe.
Playtech’s for example, embed the affid and the profile in the exe…it’s near the end.
You can test this easily by performing a download, and then opening the xe with a text editor like notepad, wordpad or editplus. Perform a find on your affid and voila, there you will see it.
If you don’t see your id, then you may have recently been cookied by a different afid because the playtech download funtion normally will read the cookie when performing the download. If a direct link is used, it will embed the affid from the link followed…
I have tested playtech’s (maybe hundreds) many times over the years and they ALWAYS pass.
Some other casinos also embed in the exe…I can’t remember all of them right now but rest assured some others do to.
Another method of download tracking is an id that is embedded within the exe that is 100% unique to the visit. In those cases the id would have to be stored within the tracking database so if the download converts at a later time the id could be cross-referenced to the original affiliate id.
I personally like the first method the best.
