And after this time does the website get blacklisted or something, or if this is done at the same time as normal linking it will just work as a quick boost for a longer lasting linking campaign?

Unless a Digg or Stumble type article takes off with some footing, and even when it does, it becomes ages material like any other page on a website. I think the algorithm triggers a sort of expiration date so to speak.
