Firstly, BCP just isn’t competitive in the market like this. Why send players to a place that will cease to pay properly if the s#!t hits the fan and I can’t perform as usual? There are plenty of programs who will continue to follow the agreed terms.
Secondly, I will never under any circumstances support any retroactive changes to contracts. Programs can change T&Cs all they like with new affiliates, the affiliate has the choice and will decide on the basis of whether they like something or not.
Existing affiliates are not allowed that choice, they already are invested in a player base.
Imagine I have a contract to deliver 100 designer dresses to a boutique for $5000. I deliver and they say “oh, by the way, we changed the contract. We only pay $3500.” I now have to pay for the material and the labor for those dresses and I haven’t made a penny myself.
This is not allowed in any country I can think of, the Boutique has to pay the agreed price.
It’s the same with affiliate programs. And the kicker is that if we let one program set such a precedent, you betcha there are 20 watching intently and ready to follow suit. Why should they pay out money they don’t have to pay?
IMO, if we allow even one case of retroactive changes, we are screwed for the future.
That is why I removed BCP from my sites, and they are not coming back until the clause is not retroactive. If they want to turn over a new leaf, I have no problem with it. But I do not and will not approve of broken contracts.
