Hmmm odd…with Webmastertools (WMT) and a sitemap I don’t normally have to wait more than 48hrs, and in one case recently, it was in the index within 30 mins. You won’t get quick rankings (or if you do it’s very temporary), but check site:domain.com in the search just to make sure it’s not there, then check WMT for scan errors and an update as to when they visited.
