I really wasn’t going to go here but….something struck a cord with me. I will not turn this into a debate. A~I do admire your control of your financial situation but, you need to realise some situations are individual exceptions.

Can´t cut some unnecessary expenses to cut overall expenses (like having pets/animals)

I agree with that 110%! They are not just animals to some. People take on the responsibility to care for these “animals” and it is for life. At least it should be. They are living. breathing beings and are as helpless as infants. To discard them is a sin!

I have been in Pat’s situation more times then I would care to mention. At one point, I had 89 cents in my wallet. Was down to 90lbs and starving as I hadn’t eaten in a few days. I went to the grocery to get a package of pasta. I happened to walk up the cat food isle. (Had cats at the time) I proceeded to the pasta. Stopped myself and went back down the cat food isle and bought a can of food for my cats I had at the time instead. Watching them chow down on the food was torture in a way but, I felt good that I did the right thing for them.

Not to mention the fact that I will probably never have children. Not that I really want them so I guess that is ok but, my furkid, chowboy, is my child. I only have a 1/4 of an ovary left as a result of numerous cyst removals leaving me a serious limit on my ability to have a child. Therefore, again, my furkid IS my child and a necessary expense. No one will begrudge me that!

Beside the gambling I do dog rescue. Primarily Chow rescue. It is not easy and sickening at times. The way people treat animals like they are disposable garbage is beyond me. I see no difference in adopting a child or a pet. YOU took on the responsibilty. Responsibility fo life!

Pat,

Not sure if you know and is only my opinion ( as well as the opinion of others) you really do not need to take the dog in every year. I do not get Alexander the yearly shots. I think they are unnecessary. Just chemicals he does not need. By law here, I only need to get him his rabies which there is a vet in town that gives them for free. I order his flee meds and heartworm from a guy (yes, a vet) in CA for like a 1/4 of the price you would pay at your local vet. I been ordering from him for over 14 years now. If you want, I can give you his email addi.
