Airual, for instance in the US many people cannot work or eat if they have no car.
Without car, on a bicycle for instance it would take me almost a whole day to go to the supermarket and back. And there is no public transport at all. No way to get to work if one has to work outside the home.
In Munich I never did own a car and likely never will. Public transport is wonderful. No point in having a car.
I spent two years of my life not owning a pair of shoes and not wanting them. Couldn’t do that now. But I was living on a beach and just didn’t need any shoes.
Life is different in different places. It’s often very difficult for people to imagine what it’s like to live elsewhere without having lived there themselves. Everything is proportionate to the location. $5 a day here would leave you begging in the streets, homeless and freezing to death.
