Yes directory submission does work. You can either have someone to do it or you can do it yourself. If you use that list I published and spend two hours a day you will see the results. Also the link checker I use is at http://www.checkyourlinkpopularity.com/. I’ve used this checker for about 4 years and it is pretty acurate.
