This is all so new to me but i’t s a wonderful “project” I love doing. I will continue to check back here to see if I can pick up anymore wonderful tips/mottos !

Liking what you are doing is very important, and helps when money isn’t rolling in right away. My first site was a project as well.

I started out as an online blackjack player way before I owned my first website. I found out which sites paid out, how fast, had good bonuses, etc. I did my homework and investigated all this, not as an affiliate but as a player. I loved doing this as well.

In about 2 months I had won about $6K as a player, and I had a few friends that wanted to know what I did. So I made my first website, with little trip reports for each casino that I trusted, strategy cards, bonus info, basically made it as simple as possible. I knew nothing about search engines, SEO, links, anything, barely knew how to use frontpage. Fast forward about 3 years, and this little site I made for my friends has earned pretty close to 100K.

I have had friends try to get in and then quickly get out of this business because the money wasn’t coming in right away or it wasn’t as easy as they thought it would be. Time in this sense is our friend, as this frustrates the hell out of most people and they give up before they even have a chance.

You will have to do a lot of reading and learning along the way. Some of it will be exciting, some of it will not be at all. This is also a stumbling block for people.

I have also seen many spend too much time on making their template or site design perfect for their first site. Focus more on the quality of your content and you will be a lot better off. Starting out, no matter what you do or how much time you spend on your template, you will want to change it, and often. Keep it simple to start.

Basic steps I suggest for starting out for the first year:
1. Write content
2. Write content
3. Write content
4. get a couple of links
5. Write content
6. Write content
7. Read SEOBook (google it) –
8. optimize site
9. get lots of links
10. alternate writing content and getting links

Time wasters I wished someone would have warned me about
1. infatuation with google pagerank
2. checking affiliate stats wayyyy to often
3. checking search engine rankings
4. hanging out and writing small novels in forums

Good luck to you. Stick with it and it will really pay off in the end.
