I ran an advert on The Hun for a month in 2006 – millions of impressions, an “ok” clickthru rate, but absolutely no increase in signups or revenue that I could spot. So ditched it.
I did a “dynamic” banner which basically meant I changed it regularly throughout the month and tried different ideas. From memory the Signup bonus banners got most clicks, unsurprisingly, but still no obvious traffic.
