If you’ve spent 7 years with them and still don’t have a good residual income then you have answered your own question.

It is interesting how different programs have completely different characteristics isn’t it?

Some programs do seem to retain old customers – thus enabling affiliates to build that long sort after linear progression of income.

Other programs seem to get to a certain level after 2-3 months and stay there.

Now this could be down to quite a few things :

(1) Lousy customer retention.
If you’re not feeling “the love” from the site as an affiliate – then chances are your players are treated in the same way.

(2) UIGEA – and other legal murmurings.
This will obviously have had a significant impact on old players who may not be able to deposit the same old way – and are not prepared to try new e-wallets.

(3) Shaving of stats.
I’ve always felt that this is unlikely – and I’ve never seen it happen to me at any program – but stories are always “rife” on the internet aren’t they.

I guess if a company was desperate enough that they could “invent” bogus winners – especially at stats systems that are not real time updates.

(4) Rakeback affiliates.
This happens. We know that many programs allow people to signup again under a new ID – and suddenly you big players are gone.

(5) Program inducements.
This is like rakeback – expect it’s performed by the program itself. You know the thing. They send out a bonus email to valuable cusotmers – at a different casino in the group – and “somehow” the customers activity ends up in a new csutomer ID not belonging to you.

so there are five reasons that may expalin why a program does not “grow” it’s income as you might expect.

Some of them ARE innocent. Some of them are competition, and some of them are shady (cheating) business practices.

It doesn’t really matter which of the five is happening (or which combination of the five) ….

If you’re a serious affiliate and if you’ve been giving a program a fair run of promotion for 6-12 months and cannot drive a midrange monthly income then you need to take action

(Note midrange income is an individual term for each affiliate. For me and my sites I expect to read a 4-figure monthly income after 6 months – hopefully a lot more … but that’s the minimum)

So – take Action – Review and discuss this with your affilaite manager.

Good affiliate managers will provide some analysis, perhaps better reporting, and will work with you to determine why income is not occuring.

If you don’t get this support – then leave the program.

If you cannot get the program into an acceptable income band – then leave the program.
