have you tried google analytics?
I find that raw logs are inflated by bots sometimes 10x actual real traffic. I also find that most counter programs miss a lot of your traffic. For some reason analytics falls somewhere in between for me.
your best comparison may be analytics vs awstats. that should give you more of an exact number.
