Got the check in the mail today, as it turns out. AND, whether an accident or not, the envelope had been cleanly opened on the side. Looks like Uncle Sam may be giving the U.S. Postal service the OK to open mail now, unless my paranoia has reached a new level. Fortunately, the check was still in the envelope.
