Are you sure you dont mean threat of “vite”?
They arent even suing our biggest daily newspapers who are definitively Swedish registered companies with online and offline presence and have been running ads for Betting, Poker and Gambling for years.
They have however been charging them this “vite” penalty which when you look at a full page ad bumps the total price from 450,000 SEK to 600,000 SEK so essentially is a 33% increase in ad fees really. This is what I’ve heard at least and may be somewhat unupdated information also.
Essentially what the current swedish lottery regulation says is that you cannot promote lotteries. It also clarifies that poker is a game of chance and therefore is equal to a lottery.
If you do, you can be fined with the so called “vite” which is a standard amount with a certain range but primarily serves as a threat of “either you close down within 2 weeks of receiving our written notice or else”.
I personally wouldnt risk trying to defend myself and take it to the EU for decision but that’s me.
I’d comply with their demands and try to find a way around them. Consult a lawyer who has knowledge in these matters.
