Where do you start? With a good idea!
We become affiliates because we want to make money, but to be successful, you’ll have to think like a visitor to your site.
What does your site uniquely offer ie why should they come to you rather than one of the millions of other sites out there?
It’s true that it’s probably all been done before, but what you have to do is find a niche – something that only your site does and/or does it better than anyone else. Even if you’re just re-packaging old information, do it uniquely and you’ll attract visitors.
I’ve been doing this for about 4 months now. I’ve been attracting visitors for about 3 and getting clicks and downloads for 2. I’ve just received my first payment for a few hundred £s and it feels great! Not enough to retire yet, but a nice start.
My advice would be:
1. Research the market and find where there’s a gap.
2. Design a web site to exploit that gap. Spend a lot of time making it look good and read well. Ensure it offers exactly what your targeted visitors will want.
3. Sign up with the affiliate programs of the casinos that offer something to your visitors first, you second.
4. Optimise your site for the search engines. There’s loads of info out there. I started completely from scratch and am amazed how much I’ve been able to learn for free.
5. Promote your site to your target audience. There are ways to do this. Do your research!
6. Be patient. Expect to allow a year to 18 months for your site to rise to the top page of search engine results. Anything you get in the meantime is a bonus.
In summary, think what you can offer the gaming community rather than how you can fleece them. It’s a sophisticated market these days, but there are still gaps. Find them!
Good luck and enjoy the journey.
