I found that in the long run this doesn’t actually affect income as much as one might think and stopped paying too much attention to it.
It seems to vary wildly among different programs, and sometimes I think it reflects more the way stats are tracked than anything else.
Some places I have had like 400 downloads producing 6 depositing players and those players were good quality and retained well and I ended up making more money than elsewhere even though I might get 6 players from 50 downloads.
So I just stopped paying that much attention to it and concentrating on the bottom line.
The type of promo and what type players it attracts seems a lot more important to me.
