Yes, I heard about this on another thread. You will see the US reaction to all this when Bush signs the bill. There is no way that he’s going to Pocket Veto the Ports Bill on account of the gambling bill being attached. That would be political suicide. As far as Line Item Veto is concerned, the Senate still needs to approve a recent bill permitting it; hence, that is not an option either.
The bill will be signed. Although it may be challenged legally on multiple fronts, the damage will have been done when it is enacted. Actually, the damage has already been done.
