Changing content on your site may work for people with just a few pages. But what about webmasters that have thousands of pages on a site.
Placing codes on your site to deter malicious bots they do not allow will only take up html bytes. To have a fast site, one of the things to constantly do is to reduce your pages bytes.
Having a htaccess file will not slow down the load time of your web pages.
