I think I started in March/April 2005. That was with progressive-watch.com. Opened psw In Sept/Oct (I think). I’m not very organized, so I don’t know for sure 
Thanks for the compliment. You shouldn’t fear to fail. I started with cheap hosting at Hostgator for $9.99 / month and just began building with a simple idea. Worst case, you are out the $9.99 for 6 months (it will take time to get any players) and out a little of your own time.
Like I said – just do it. Someone told me that and that is what jump started me to get in the game. Glad I did.
