Zack, you’ve certainly picked an interesting time to launch. I just have a few comments after reading the terms and conditions.
2.3 BETEMPIRE.COM shall retain the right to change any part of the Service at anytime, without notice to Affiliate, in whatever manner BETEMPIRE.COM deems appropriate.
2.4 BETEMPIRE.COM shall retain the right to cancel any part of the Service at any time, without notice to Affiliate, in whatever manner
Is it too much to ask that you send out changes via email? You have the affiliates’ email addresses and hopefully you can imagine the time affiliates would spend, checking that programs haven’t changed, if all programs has similar terms. Time that can and should be spent doing more productive things.
4.1 …BETEMPIRE.COM can at its sole discretion determine that the volume of business from the Affiliate site is not sufficient to warrant continuation of this Agreement and terminate this Agreement with thirty (30) days written notice.
4.4 If Affiliate at any time stops promoting the Service, BETEMPIRE.COM maintains the right to terminate the Agreement without notice.
and
No other affiliate program pays like Empire’s. Join now and earn 25-40% profit on all customers you send our way… forever!
The two kind of contrdict each other. The latter appears in more than one place across the site and if you decide to terminate the agreement then I assume the affiliate stops earning income from players already referred. Please correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.
Another point not related to the terms is whether you can work on getting betempire.com to work on Firefox. Here’s a quote for a 10 July 2006 article on BetaNews.
Worldwide, Firefox now holds 12.93 percent of the market, up from 11.79 percent in May. The open source browser commands a 15.82 percent usage share in the United States, and a whopping 39.02 percent in Germany. Australians are also big Firefox users, with the browser holding 24.23 percent of the market down under.
Some of those numbers are fairly high and alienating them because only IE6+ is supported may be causing you to lose players. And the message about only using IE because of security issues is plain laughable.
