The only real benefit of decertifying them is to set an example to other programs that we dont like these type of SEO practices. Thats really about all that will happen. That and another thing not so good. I believe 888 will give the scrapers a green light to continue on since there is no real check and balance in place anymore.I agree with the first part — decertifying them completely will send a strong message to the other programs. I think this course of action (along with a strongly-worded press release) would be a great idea.

The second part, I’m not so sure about. Maybe 888 will give scrapers a green light — BUT — don’t forget about all of the blacklist and rogue pages that have been put up recently. I do believe that 888’s bottom line will be affected by the growning number of blacklist pages. In time, players will associate the 888 brands with stealing, scraping, and spamming. Intelligent, well-to-do players will not play at a rogue casino.

The ethical affiliates outnumber the unethical ones. Our reach is far greater than theirs. I truly believe we need to make an example out of 888 if we want to stamp out scraping in this industry. If you simply slap 888 on the wrist, this is not going to change the big picture much.

If I was doing it, I would add 888 to the scam alerts page, or perhaps create a new page where you can place rogue programs. The ultimate goal, as I’ve said before, is to cut off the income stream. CAP is a very influential site, and if you make a point to “warn” other affiliates via a blacklist page, and explain why affiliates shouldn’t promote the program — this will hurt 888’s bottom line.

I hope I am getting my point across clearly. Bottom line is, I think 888 needs to crushed, and the only way that is going to happen is if everyone pulls out all the stops.
