Hi all,
I’ve given this a lot of thought and for the time being I think that the best way to combat this stuff is contacting the sponsors that are advertised on the site and then perhaps being more proactive in our approach to sponsors that don’t move against the affiliate in question in a timely manner.
ultimately the problem will be solved not by anything we can do but rather by the SEs implementing some sort of program that determines which site had the content first and then if not punish the scraping sites; then for certain at least take out any pages with duplicate content from being in their results.
personally i fail to see why its been so hard for the SEs to have not already done something about this ever-growing problem because what it is going to result in if nothing is done to curb the onslaught: is that people are going to take the attitude I have taken in recent months which is why bother to write if its only going to give your competition more ammunition to use against you.
Which is almost certainly the case in my situation.
you see the problem with having a net that consists of nothing but stolen content is …. you guessed it: you run out of places to steal fresh content.
makes for a pretty dull net after a while.
so its in the SEs best interest to do the right thing and stop rewarding scraper sites but when will they realize this and make an effort?
