I don’t see any special reason why they would be.
As a discussion point – here is how I’d rank the names.
.com is number one. It rules and must be worth 4-5 times anything else.
.net is second tier used by jonny come lately.
.org is OK if you are an organisation
then :
.tv could be good for fansites etc … but not much else.
.uk is good if you want to target the uk (sizable market)
All the country domains (.br .ca .fr .de .gr .pt (etc))
.eu this may be a growth area – but it doesn’t specifically target a group.
I don’t know of any European Union member that doesn’t think of their national country first … except perhaps Brussels administrators …
