Hi stupid,
I’m not sure which free message board you’re referring to. Yes, there are a few message boards who have decided to link to my site. I don’t know if it’s possible for incoming links to get a site penalized, is it? If that were the case, then everyone would post links to competing sites to knock them out of the game.
I agree that it’s a good idea to avoid massive crosslinking. But I only have two sites, and they aren’t excessively linked. Onlinepokercraze links to Choicegambling on all of its pages (in the footer, about 50 pages overall), but CG only links back to OPC once, on a links page. I don’t think that would be considered “massive” or “excessive” because (a) there are only 2 sites involved, and (b) the number of links pointing to CG from OPC is relatively low (around 50, as I said).
No, I haven’t submitted my site for paid inclusion in the Yahoo Directory.
I did some reading at Webmaster World this morning. In the long thread about the Yahoo penalty, several people said the best way out of this is to start a whole new site. Yikes!! There must be a better way….
You should have avoided using free message boards.
Just avoid anything free as a rule of thumb!
Many people use these free services just to create a pseudo-sites, and them put a whole bunch of links to their websites from there. Yahoo gave the finger to this type of SEO, thank God.
Also, maybe you have a bad apple somewhere – you should not interlink your websites too much. I think 25casinos used to rank pretty good for “internet casinos” and now it’s gone. Correct me if I am wrong, I might be thinking of a different site.
I had a darn good site which was banned from Yahoo not because of spamming but because a bunch koksukerz just copied my website’s content word by word (although Yahoo’s explanation was something like “not enough content” or some made up shit like that).
Another possibility – have you submitted for paid inclusion in Yahoo Dir lately?
There are a whole bunch of reasons why your website might be banned by Yahoo, but no matter the reason – there is almost nothing you can do about it but wait and hope you will get re-included in some point of time. Hope is a good thing, I had a website being re-included without me doing anything, but wait. I took about 6 months, but it’s back in business.
:woohoo:
