Sure it is a math question. The thing is….page rank you see may be different from a true page rank. The little bar you see on your browser may be misleading since it may not correspond to the real PR, and I think google plays with that. How many toolbars have been downloaded because of this tool??
Anyway this is not important at all because the real thing is traffic, no matter what your PR is.
